Liverpool are considering a move for Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Leandro Paredes, according to reports.
Midfield is an area Liverpool need to have serious thoughts about before the transfer window closes. Thiago Alcantara, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Naby Keita are currently nursing injuries.
Against Manchester United on Monday, Liverpool started with two midfielders in their 30s, Jordan Henderson and James Milner. Although they are the two main leaders of the group, they will not be around forever.
Joining them was Harvey Elliott, who is at the opposite end of his career at the age of 19. Like fellow youngsters Curtis Jones and Fabio Carvalho, he still has some developing to do despite his exciting potential.
With that in mind, Liverpool could do with cover in midfield. Ideally, they need someone at a similar age bracket to 28-year-old Fabinho, who has the right balance of experience.
Indeed, they are now being linked with a potential target of the same age. According to Italian outlet Calciomercato, one of the names under consideration is Leandro Paredes.
The Argentina international could be on his way out of Paris Saint-Germain shortly. He is under contract there until 2024, but has attracted a few suitors.
But Liverpool – who have Paredes’ former teammates Alisson Becker and Mohamed Salah in their squad – could have their own plans.
